Google has this awesome tech that can turn your words into text and vice versa. It's super handy for lots of stuff. Like, you can use it with Google Maps to search by voice, or with the Recorder App to transcribe recordings. It even works in real-time with the Phone App Call Screen, so you can see what callers are saying as they talk. Plus, there are cool accessibility apps and language learning apps that use it too. To get it on your Android device, just go to Settings > Apps & notifications > Default apps > Assist App and pick Speech Services by Google as your voice input thingy.
Apart from converting speech to text, Google also has a cool feature called Text-to-Speech. It lets apps read out the text on your screen for you. For example, with Google Play Books, you can have your favorite books read aloud to you. And with Google Translate, it can pronounce translations so you know how words sound. This feature is also used by Talkback and other accessibility apps to provide spoken feedback. To turn on Google Text-to-Speech on your Android device, just go to Settings > Languages & Input > Text-to-Speech output and choose Speech Services by Google as your preferred engine.
Just so you know, Google's Speech Services usually come pre-installed on lots of Android devices. But don't worry, you can always update to the newest version if you want. These awesome speech technologies from Google can seriously amp up your device's features, making it way easier and more convenient to use apps and stuff.
