Guess what? Samsung just dropped some news! They're ditching support for the Family Hub app on their fancy schmancy refrigerators that run on TIZEN 6.0 Software and above. Instead, they want you to hop on the SmartThings app train. So, if you're rocking a Family Hub fridge with TIZEN 4.0 Software or below, don't worry, the old app will still work for you.

Users can totally still use cool stuff like uploading pics and vids with the Family Hub gadget plugin. But, if you're into food stuff, you gotta check out the SmartThings Cooking Service Plugin for features like View Inside, Recipe recommendations, Meal Planner, Shopping List, and Food List. It's all there!

In order to use the app, you gotta give it some permissions. The app needs to access your contacts so it can provide services that need account linking. You also have the choice to let it access your microphone for recording voice memos and using the whiteboard, and access your storage for sharing photos and videos through the cloud.

Basically, Samsung has stopped supporting the Family Hub app on Family Hub fridges with TIZEN 6.0 Software and newer. They recommend using the SmartThings app instead. You can still upload pics and vids through the Family Hub device plugin, and find food-related features in the SmartThings Cooking Service Plugin. The app needs certain permissions, like access to contacts for account linking, and you can choose to give it access to your microphone and storage too.
