Twilight is this cool app that can totally help you sleep like a baby by blocking out all that annoying blue light your phone or tablet emits after the sun goes down. Apparently, some fancy research says that looking at blue light before bed messes with your body's natural rhythm and makes it super hard to fall asleep. It's all because of this photoreceptor thing in your eyes called Melanopsin, which gets all sensitive to this specific range of blue light between 460-480nm. And get this, it messes with the production of Melatonin, which is the hormone that controls your sleep-wake cycles. So basically, if you're scrolling on your phone or tablet for a few hours before hitting the sack, you might find yourself tossing and turning for an extra hour or so. Crazy, right?

The Twilight app is super cool! It changes the color of your device screen to match the time of day and gives your eyes a break with a nice, soothing red filter. It even adjusts the filter intensity based on when the sun sets and rises in your area. And guess what? You can use Twilight on your Wear OS device too! This app is perfect for reading at night because it lowers the screen backlight way more than your regular brightness controls. So, say goodbye to eye strain and hello to a more comfortable viewing experience!

Twilight is actually pretty good for peeps with AMOLED screens. We've been trying it out on one for a solid 5 years, and no signs of wear and tear or screen burn-in. When you set it up right, Twilight reduces the amount of light coming from your screen (by dimming it) and spreads the light out more evenly (even those dark parts like the status bar get a nice tint). This could potentially give your AMOLED screen a longer life.

To sort out your notifications and lock screen, the app might need you to turn on Twilight Accessibility Service. Don't worry, it's only for improving your screen filtering and the app won't gather any personal info. It also needs permissions like location, running apps, write settings, and network access for smartlight (Philips HUE) to protect your home lights from blue.

To sum it up, Twilight is a super cool app that can totally upgrade your sleep game by blocking out the harmful blue light that your phone or tablet gives off after the sun goes down. It's like having a personal screen stylist that adjusts to the time of day and treats your eyes with a lovely red filter. Plus, it's great for folks with fancy AMOLED screens and needs some permissions like location, running apps, write settings, and network access smartlight (Philips HUE) to protect your home lighting from that pesky blue light too.
