The Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) is like a super cool tool that the Department of Defense (DoD) uses for all sorts of important stuff like planning missions, looking at maps, watching live videos, and keeping everything running smoothly. It's basically a fancy app that you can use on your phone or tablet instead of carrying around a big clunky laptop. It's got all the latest tech to make sure it works with both DoD and regular commercial standards. And the best part is that anyone can add their own special features or help make it even better. You can load up all the data you need beforehand or just grab it from the internet when you're connected.

ATAK-CIV is basically the civilian version of ATAK. It's got all the cool features like online and offline mapping, collaborative mapping, location tagging, sharing stuff, chat, file sharing, photo and video sharing, streaming, navigation tools, elevation tools (for those who love heights), heat maps to show hotspots, contour maps to make things look fancy, viewsheds to see what's in your line of sight, routes for easy traveling, hashtags to keep things organized, sticky tags that stay put wherever you want them to be, range and bearing tools for measurement geeks like me (and other cool measurement tools too), geofences that are aware of networks and can trigger actions when you enter or leave them (fancy stuff), 'Bloodhound' destination tracking so you don't get lost (or maybe find someone who is lost), emergency beacons for teams in trouble (safety first!), a toolbar that you can customize according to your needs (because we all have different preferences), radio controls for those who love staying connected with their crewmates and integration with radios (for seamless communication), the ability to turn photos into maps (how cool is that?), a tool for evacuating casualties safely and quickly (because we care about people), icons that support various missions for first responders (saving lives!), a 3D perspective mode so you can see things from a different angle (because why not?), and the ability to display 3D geospatial models (so you can see things in even more detail). Oh yeah, and one more thing - ATAK-CIV is open source. So yeah, it's pretty awesome!

To rock ATAK, you gotta have Android 5.0 or higher (API 21), a fancy graphics processor that supports GLES 3.0, and no particular demands for storage, memory, or processor power. If you wanna have the best time ever, we suggest having a phone with Samsung S9-like hardware or newer, and a tablet with Samsung S2-like hardware or newer. Let the fun begin!

TAK CORE is like the ultimate foundation for all TAK apps, regardless of what platform you're on. It's got all the cool stuff you need, like networking, geospatial data magic, snazzy visuals, and handling all your precious geospatial data.
