Ampere is this cool app that lets you check how fast your battery is charging or draining. It's like a little detective that helps you figure out which charger and USB cable combo is the bomb for your device. Now, it's not super precise with the milliamps and all, but it gives you a good enough idea of how different chargers and cables perform on your phone. And hey, the current depends on a bunch of factors like the charger, cable, phone model, what apps you're running, screen brightness, if WiFi or GPS are on...you get the picture!
The app checks how much juice is going into or out of your battery. When your phone isn't plugged in, it shows the amount of power being drained (which is a negative number). But when you connect a charger, the app shows how much power the charger is providing to keep your phone running, while also filling up your battery. The current shown is an average of 50 measurements, with the highest and lowest 10 values thrown out. Sometimes the displayed current might be jumpy, unreliable, or even zero because Android can be a bit wonky with its readings.
Some Samsung devices can be a bit wonky when it comes to measuring charging values. Instead of giving you the actual numbers, they just show you the maximum charging current possible with your USB cable and charger setup. It's all because of a pesky firmware issue. So, remember, Ampere isn't like some super accurate scientific tool. But hey, it can still come in handy for figuring out which charger and USB cable combo works best for your device.
Only phones and ROMS that have the 'Old measurement method' turned on and the correct 'Measurement interface' selected are compatible with this app. Some of the phones and ROMS that work include HTC One M7/M8 and LG G3. However, there are reports that this app doesn't work with certain devices like Galaxy Grand Prime, Galaxy Note2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Tab4 7.0, HTC Desire 510, HTC One S (ville), X (endeavoru), XL (evita), and HTC Sensation 4G.
Check how much power is going in and out of your battery.
