The 'Remote Control for Sony TV' app lets you control your Sony TV with your phone. You can choose between using infrared (IR) or network IP control. If your phone has an IR blaster, you can use the IR control option. Otherwise, you'll need to connect your TV and phone to the same local network for the network IP control option. The app works with different Sony TV models from 2011 to 2016, but unfortunately not with the 2017 ones.

You don't need to set up anything or connect to WiFi for the IR control option. Just make sure to aim your phone's IR blaster right at the TV, within a distance of 4-10ft. The app has been tried and tested on Samsung Galaxy phones with Android 4.4+ software, and it even works on some older Samsung devices with Android 4.1 - 4.2.2. Keep in mind that the IR blaster might not work on certain phones when they're in power saving mode or have low battery.

To use the network IP control option, you gotta make sure your Sony TV is on and both your TV and mobile device are connected to the same local network. If you wanna register/pair a Bravia TV, just go to the TV's settings and turn on 'Remote Device' or 'Renderer'. And if the TV doesn't show up, no worries, you can manually enter its IP address. This app works with different Sony TV models made between 2011 and 2016, but sorry folks, it won't work with 2017 models.
